The Adventurer With a Vision

Hi, I’m Starah Dixon: entrepreneur, storyteller, adventurer, and what I like to call a narrative holder.

I build platforms, ask too many “why” questions, and care deeply about the stories people are not always given room to tell for themselves. My work sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, art, leadership, and connection, but the thread running through all of it is narrative.

From my Haitian heritage, I carry one lesson closely:

If you do not hold your own narrative, the world will rewrite it for you.

That belief shapes how I build, how I lead, and how I choose the projects I give my energy to.

The Work

I believe building dreams takes a village, but I also know the weight of a vision can feel deeply personal. My entrepreneurial foundation includes co-founding HealthHires and serving as a founding member of Untapped Founders. Those experiences taught me that the best way to understand my work is to look at what I keep returning to: story, access, intention, and the people brave enough to build something before it is fully understood.

Current Pillars:

Mitsooz: Art With Its Narrative Intact

Mitsooz is my story-driven space for original art, sculpture, photography, and the artists behind the work.

It’s built for intentional collectors who care about more than filling a wall. They want to know the artist, the context, and the “why” behind the piece. To me, that narrative isn’t extra. It’s part of the work itself.

Authentic Ambitions: The Honest Side of Building

Authentic Ambitions, co-founded with Tysheda Williams, is where we take off the mask a bit.

We talk with founders and leaders about the parts of entrepreneurship that don’t always make it into the polished recap: the pivots, the doubts, the flailing, the wins, and the lessons that only come from doing the thing.

In My Mind:
The Architecture of the Narrative

To understand how I lead, you have to understand the stories that serve as my mental foundation.

I am a student of the complex and the reclaimed:

The Library of Babel (Jorge Luis Borges):
This is my primary lens for life. Borges imagines (and reimagines, depending on how you want to take the book) an infinite library where the search for meaning is constant. I view the world, art, and business in the same way; my role is to navigate that infinity and find the stories meant to be told.

The Black Jacobins (C.L.R. James):
This is my lighthouse. It reminds me that narratives of victory are often the first to be suppressed. My work is an act of reclamation: ensuring the “true story” remains at the forefront.

Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury):
I am moved by the “book people” who memorized texts to protect them. I serve as a Narrative Holder in that same tradition, protecting the details of a vision until they can be safely handed off.

Le Petit Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry):
My constant reminder to honor my “little self” – the one who values wonder over “matters of consequence.” It reminds me to never become too “adult” for the world.

When the Laptop Closes

My primary meter for success is having the time to do anything—or absolutely nothing. Time is the only thing we can never get back, and I have learned to value the luxury of simply letting myself “be.”

I find my calm in nature. Whether I am exploring a new trail or heading out for a hike with my family, the outdoors is where I reset. My husky, Ash, is a true professional; he’s the one who walks us, not the other way around. I am a lifelong reader and a student of the details others might overlook.

When I’m not in the woods or lost in a book, I’m likely bothering my village. Within my household, my husband Devin, husky Ash, and cat Slate are my primary targets.

Since my parents, my brother, and my friends are all scattered across different places, I take my bothering “to go.” I may not be the best at texting back – my friends will be the first to tell you that – but they love my random pop-ups and know I’m always there for them.

Essentially, they “get” me, and they know that my brand of connection is always rooted in intention.

My Ask

Building bold dreams isn’t a solo mission. It requires a village of people who are willing to be “Narrative Holders” for the vision. If my journey resonates with you, I have two asks:

1 – Follow the Ventures:
Join the community at Mitsooz and Authentic Ambitions. Your presence helps amplify the artists and leaders we champion.

2 – Champion my Name:
Champion my work in the rooms I haven’t entered yet. If you are in a space where bold ideas, strategic storytelling, or original art are being discussed, bring me into the conversation.

Every connection and mention helps build this village. Thank you for walking this path with me.
