Mitsooz has always been rooted in a deep love for creative expression. What began as my personal curated shop is now evolving into something bigger — a space to uplift and support other artists and makers. The goal has never changed: to ensure creatives are recognized, respected, and able to thrive while they’re here.
One thought has guided this journey more than any other:
“I want artists’ lives to have meaning and be appreciated while they’re alive — not after they pass. Because… what’s the point of not being able to truly access the fruits of your labor?”
That idea has stayed with me and become a foundational principle as we move into this next chapter of Mitsooz.
Creatives Need Space to Create — Not Just Survive
I’m not an artist myself. I’m a creative, a systems thinker, and the admin who has kept the behind-the-scenes of Mitsooz running. Even with support, managing every part of the business was overwhelming at times.
If it felt like that for me, then I know it’s even more demanding for working creatives who are juggling creation, logistics, promotion, and fulfillment all at once.
That realization shaped the direction of the new Mitsooz.
This Chapter Is Even More Intentional — Built With Care, From the Ground Up
This next chapter of Mitsooz is even more intentional. It always was, but now, we’re building it differently — with more care, more clarity, and more commitment to the people behind the work.
We’re not trying to be a platform for everyone. We’re building a home for true creatives — people who actually make what they sell, and who put thought, skill, and identity into every piece.
Our application process is a key part of protecting that integrity.
We’re not just looking for shops that appear handmade. We’re committed to ensuring that when someone says they’re an artisan, they truly are. Respectfully, we’ve seen other platforms grow quickly, and in that growth, open the door to resellers or dropshippers who market as makers. It’s understandable — scaling fast often leads to blurred lines. But that’s not the model we’re choosing.
Mitsooz is working at the root, with intention. The goal isn’t just expansion — it’s alignment.
Art as Identity: What Speaks for Me When I Don’t Say a Word
I’ve found it interesting that, even though I’ve never been someone who walks into a room declaring who I am, I still announce myself. Just not with words. But with presence.
The details have always spoken for me. The kind of perfume I wear. The artisan-made bags I carry. The textures I choose. The objects I place in my home. These aren’t random. They’re curated reflections of who I am and what I care about. They communicate values, stories, and soul — often more clearly than anything I could say out loud.
Even the books in our home are a part of that. My family and I are in the process of building out a private library, filled with timeless gems, uncommon voices, and knowledge that we believe should always be accessible. But that’s a story for another post.
This way of moving through the world — of expressing identity through curation — is why Mitsooz matters so much to me. It isn’t just a marketplace. It’s a platform for meaningful expression, and a way to help others share who they are through the work they create or the pieces they choose to own.
That’s why we’re serious about curation. That’s why we honor the integrity of our creative partners. It’s not about exclusivity. It’s about respect — for what’s real.
Real Stories, Real Creatives, Real Connection
One of the things I’m most excited for is sharing the raw, powerful stories of the creatives we welcome into the fold. These aren’t just shop owners. These are visionaries, culture carriers, and builders of beauty.
Some are preserving heritage techniques. Others are pushing boundaries. All of them are giving the world something real.
Mitsooz exists to support them, elevate them, and give them the infrastructure they deserve so they can focus on their work without burning out from doing it all alone.
2026 Is Coming — But the Work Starts Now
There’s a big wave coming for 2026, our internal name for the future of Mitsooz. But we’re not waiting for the calendar to flip. We’re already building behind the scenes — refining the systems, creating the foundation, and preparing to bring this vision to life in full.
And if you’ve been feeling the pull to return to your creative work, to be seen, or to reconnect with why you started — this is your moment.
Whether you’re a maker, designer, builder, or creative entrepreneur — this is for you.
This Is Bigger Than Products
This is about protecting the soul of art. It’s about ensuring creatives are seen, valued, and supported while they’re here. Not after. Not when it’s too late.
Mitsooz is for the ones who still believe in care, craftsmanship, individuality, and meaning.
If that’s you, welcome home.
With love and purpose,
Starah Dixon
